expensive fish

hello all,
just pondering through some old chat sites
and thought i would respond to some of the
remarks left by fish keepers,as everyone in this
business knows, you will never please everyone
so the two negative remarks i have found i will
not respond to,however the biggest gripe you
seem to have[or some people have]is the cost of
Japanese fish, the actual cost of these has doubled
in the last few years and it is not down to the
breeders like ourselves they have no control over
the value of the pound,5yrs ago we where getting
220 to the pound, now we are getting 120 to the
pound, and as freight is paid in yen you can see
where the cost is.
one of the remarks from our survey is why don't
we do Israeli koi, like we used to,well the answer
is for next year we will bring some in,it is fair to say
when we used to bring them in they where very
nice fish for the money,so due to request we will
try and see if the demand is there, yes due to exch
values and shipping costs they will be a lot cheaper
but as we will not buy lower quality fish we cannot
say what the cost difference will be so watch this
space,
we are also bringing into play a limited amount of
pet supplies into the store[again due to results of the
survey]so if there is anything in particular you would
like please ask,
as winter is well and truly around the corner lets
see if next year we can bring some common sense
back into koi keeping, and lets buy fish because we
like them and not because the so called experts say
that is the style or pattern you should be buying,
hope to be a bit more regular with the blog from now
on but there again i never seem to have much time,
that freight train called life just seems to get faster and
faster, and i blink and 3 weeks has passed,
  regards to you all,

is that it

hi all,
it looks as if our summer is well and truly over,
with the first heavy frosts on us it can only get
colder, dare i say hopefully next year is better
mind didnt i say that last year, well lets hope the
winter is not as cold or long like the last one,we
like most of you in the northeast did not seem to
get our ponds past the upper 60s but the plus side
is our fish have seemed to put on a lot of body
weight so i suppose they are ready for the winter,
if you have not cleaned your filter systems out yet
it might be prudent to do it know,it might be our
last chance before the weather gets to bad,and if
you have covers best get them on now,we are
about to give the shop a facelift so if you do call in
and see the organised chaos please be patient,it
will be worth it,we need to create more space and
i do not want to reduce the number of koi ponds we
have,so need to utilise the space more effectivly,
good luck and look forward to seeing you all
through the winter for a chat,
kind regards

oh dear the pro has spoken

well well well!the pro has spoken once again
and pointed the finger at the wrong person again,
I no longer need the tablets because i get the
injection every six months and i get at least three
reminders before my doctor collars me in the shop
so i cant forget the injection,so my memory is like
it was ten yrs ago,and the wobbly hand shaking
had nothing to do with me they belonged to the
son who is half my age so its about time he got his
facts right,i would have wrote this blog sooner but
when i went to the trade show i left my laptop at
home so this was the earliest i could respond
and while i am on, up to now the results for the
poll are no 1 is pet supplies and no 2 is marines
but trailing in the distance is reptiles,so please keep
 the feedback coming,
regards paul
